So You Wanna Be A Cooker?
Thank you for your interest in participating in the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off. The Nugget Rib Cook-off is an invitational event with room for just 24 outstanding cooking teams. Most of the rib cookers have been with us from the very beginning and are asked back year after year.
Currently, there are no openings for the 2007 Nugget Rib Cook-off. However, that could change, as an invitee may not be able to attend. For this reason, I am always taking information from rib cookers interested in participating in the Nugget Rib Cook-off however, before you send any information, please read below to determine if the Nugget Rib Cook-off is for you and your cooking team.
To participate in the Nugget Rib Cook-off you must be a professional cooker with all your own equipment and be accustomed to adhering to state health department requirements. You should be able to cook at least 200-250 cases of ribs during the six-day event. And you must pay the entry fee by the determined deadline.
This is not an event for the meek and recreational rib cooker—this is hard work. You wake up early, go to bed late and wake up again the next day ready to serve your customers with a great attitude and a smile on your face. If you have never experienced the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off, I recommend you come out this year as an observer, talk to the cooks, and make sure it is something you want and can be a part of.
If you and your cooking team fulfill the criteria and qualifications listed above, and are interested in being considered as a Nugget Rib Cook-off participant, send me a letter with a résumé telling me about your experience as a rib cooker and photographs of your set-up, preferably at another event.
